Morecambe and Lunesdale NHS 70th Birthday
Morecambe and Lunesdale NHS 70th Birthday
On Friday 6th of July Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate Lizzi Collinge, local Councillors and other Party members gathered outside the Queen Victoria Centre on Thornton Road in Morecambe to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the service. Signatures were collected from members of the public in a giant NHS 70th Birthday Card. Which we were delighted to present to NHS staff along with a birthday cake baked by Councillor Jean Parr.

It was a great event celebrating an institution that touches all our lives. The NHS is the Labour Party’s proudest achievement. It was important to take the time to appreciate an institution that has bound us together for the last 70 years. And to thank the staff past and present who look after us.

Over the past 8 years the Tories have starved the NHS of the resources it needs. They have allowed more and more local services to be privatised. They have undermined staff doing their best to care for the sick.

Now we must refocus on protecting our NHS and investing in its future.
