Vote for a visible County Councillor working for YOU

I want to do more to make our area a better place, so I am asking for your vote to become the County Councillor for Heysham and be your voice in County Hall.

Having lived and worked here for many years, what matters to you, matters to me. I understand and face the same concerns about access to health and social care, our local economy, our roads and public transport. I believe we have great potential here in this area that can be realised with the right investment in our community and especially in our younger generation.

We may have a mountain to climb but we can build on our fantastic community spirit to realise this potential future. It would be an honour to be your County Councillor, to work for you and represent our community.

Supporting the community on local issues

Eden Project North
I totally support Eden Project North. The aim is not just to provide a premier tourism destination, but to create a real opportunity for all local businesses to engage and thrive. We will work to ensure local hotels and tourism venues can both support and grow alongside Eden. We will support training initiatives that enable people to find good and well paid employment.
Roads – potholes
Are you fed up with our potholed roads? Sarah is. After 4 years in County Hall the Tories have done little to fix them. Some are in a shocking state. It took years for School Road to be resurfaced, only after pressure from the local Labour councillor. Sarah will battle with the county highways team to ensure our roads get the attention they deserve.

My pledges to you

CLIMATE CHANGE AND RENEWABLES
We will declare a climate and ecological emergency within 100 days of taking office. We want to eliminate single use plastics and reduce waste of all kinds.

PROMOTING A GREEN ECONOMY
We commit to building a manufacturing economy based on green technology. We will launch a Lancashire Good Employment Charter to attract the best and brightest.

SUPPORTING OUR BIO-DIVERSITY
Grassy areas will be managed responsibly, including reduced mowing to encourage biodiversity, and we will prioritise weeding on footpaths to enable access.

EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING
I am committed to supporting better employment and training prospects for young people and to promoting the district as a tourist destination of choice.

FIXING OUR CRUMBLING ROADS
Across Heysham our roads are crumbling and riddled with potholes. We will invest an extra £20m in highways maintenance, including a focus on long lasting resurfacing works.
