Labour Win in Heysham North

I am delighted to be able to say that David Brayshaw is Morecambe's newest councillor after winning a resounding majority in yesterday's by-election.

David secured 66% of the vote in a straight fight between Labour and Ukip, and it was thoroughly deserved.

Since the sitting Morecambe Bay Independent (MBI) councillor resigned and Ukip called the election, local Labour activists have intensified the work which was already happening on the ground in Heysham, and it all paid off yesterday.

As many of you will know, David is a successful and popular member of the Morecambe community, and will be a superb addition to Morecambe Town Council.

The result also means that the council is no longer in the control of the MBI group.

Our work will now continue each and every week over the winter as we knock doors and listen to voters, fighting for a better Morecambe and Lunesdale at every level of government from Morecambe Town Hall to Westminster.
