Heysham Litter Pick

Litterpicking in Heysham

In 2015 Cllrs Hartley & Biddulph organised two litter picks in the Heysham South ward. In August nine bags of waste were collected and on re-visiting the same area in November twelve bags of waste plus a broken traffic cone were gathered up.  A huge thank you to Heysham residents who came along to help clean up.

A lot of the waste was plastic bottles and other items that had blown out of uncovered recycling boxes.

If your box lid has been lost/blown away, replacement ‘shower cap’ type elasticated covers are available free of charge from Morecambe Town Hall or Tourist Information Office.

We’ll be organising more litter picks in 2016. If you have a suggestion for which areas should be done please contact Cllr Hartley – chartley@lancaster.gov.uk

One final thought, if everyone picked up just one piece of litter each day there would be little or no rubbish on Heysham’s streets!
