February 2018 CLP Meeting

The CLP meeting for February was a very full and busy event, we managed to run out of chairs!

As well as the necessary CLP business, we appointed our new LGBT Officer - Lee Revell and agreed to affiliate to LGBT Labour, timely during LGBT History Month.

We also agreed a donation of £50 to Lancashire Young Labour for their Conference in March.

We then heard from a fantastic speaker, our newly appointed BAME officer, Naley Alobari and had a discussion session for members to say what they would like to see the CLP do.

We even had time for a raffle!

Thank you to everyone that came along, it was the first meeting since the election of the new Exec and we hope to refine the meetings over time, any feedback is appreciated.

Our Speaker - Naley Alobari

Naley spoke about his work in Nigeria and how very different one countries perception of democracy is to anothers.

It really highlighted the contrast between democracy when it is working and when it isn't and emphaised how easy it is to erode that democracy away when we don't fight for it.

His ideas about campaigning and outreach had the campaigns team buzzing!

If you would like to give a talk at a future CLP meeting, or know someone who would, please contact the Secretary
