On Thursday 30th October a by-election will take place in Heysham North for Morecambe Town Council. Our fantastic Labour candidate is Morecambe Carnival founder and successful local businessman David Brayshaw.
I am incredibly proud to be the Labour candidate in the by-election on October 30th. I was born in the Queen Vic back in the 60s and have lived in Heysham all my life, and my children are growing up here now. I love our town and its people, and I believe my experience in organising the Morecambe Carnival and running a business here for almost 20 years will be an asset to the Town Council.
The recent attempt by some council members to cut funding for festivals shows that the council needs members who understand the needs of local people and our local economy, and if elected I will look forward to working with my Labour colleagues - who were instrumental in defeating the planned cuts - and fighting for what's best for Heysham North.
Do you want to help secure a win for Labour and the people of Heysham North this October?
You could help by:
- delivering a few leaflets near where you live
- knocking on doors to speak to voters
- telephoning voters

Labour's candidate for the general election next year, Amina Lone, is delighted David has decided to stand for Labour:
David is a fantastic ambassador for Morecambe. I have known him for some time now, and he is passionate about the potential of our town and its people. David has fought tirelessly to bring investment and excitement to our town over the years and I am proud he is the Labour candidate in this by-election. I can think of no better candidate to fight for our town and represent Heysham North on the Town Council.
