Carnforth & Millhead Ward

Councillor John Reynolds

John Reynolds

I’m delighted to have been elected Labour Councillor for Carnforth and Millhead. I grew up on a council estate in Halton and now live with my wife Becky and our two children in Carnforth. My family all voted Tory but I eventually managed to persuade them that they were voting against their own interests for a government that was “socially unfair and made Britain a really selfish place.” After helping the Labour Party by delivering leaflets for a long time, I became a full member in 2013 because “I felt I owed the Labour Party. They did a lot for families like mine with the introduction of the national minimum wage and working tax credits, and support for more access to higher education.” “What’s important to me in local politics is the conversation and the connection that we have with our electorate. We’re involved because we want to change the communities that we live in for the better…we need to win hearts and minds and help people realise that the Labour Party represents them. “This government is taking the very fabric of our society and our communities to pieces, and out of office it’s very difficult for the Labour Party to be able to influence that, other than to propose our alternative agenda and give hope. “Our primary mission in Morecambe and Lunesdale for the next four years is to deliver the message that it doesn’t have to be like this.”
