Carnforth Labour Party is holding a stall from 11.00 to 1.00 on the fourth Wednesday of each month. We hope to meet people, to talk about the reasons why we want to see a fairer society, and to challenge the view that there should be damaging cuts to our local communities. We are determined to publicise the impact of cuts and the importance of core public services such as libraries, child care centres, social care, buses, road repairs and swimming pools. And much more. We want to play a part in ensuring that people’s voices are heard. We refuse to accept that in a society as rich as ours we have to put up with the savage cuts to the very services that make communities good places to live. We want to hear and publicise individuals’ experiences of what public and community services mean to them. Such accounts might be about family or friends no longer having visits from a care worker, or the fear that with the library gone a place of importance in the life of the community is taken away.
