Last week Labour's Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham visited Morecambe along with Barrow MP John Woodcock. Only Labour is listening to local people's concerns about the NHS.
While our Tory MP continues to bury his head in the sand about the crisis our NHS is facing, Labour are listening to residents and putting forward our plan to rescue our health service.
We heard many stories about long waits at A&E, the struggle to get GP appointments, and the difficulty of travelling long distances for check-ups and appointments with consultants.
It is so important that we retain as many high quality services as possible at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and the Tory government cannot guarantee that will happen. It is also vital that we invest in our GP services to improve access for patients in Morecambe and Lunesdale.
Only Labour is listening to patients, and only Labour has a plan to save the NHS.
The Tories are trying to build a recovery by persecuting the most vulnerable in our society and are doing nothing to protect ordinary working families. In contrast, Labour believe that it is right that those with the broadest shoulders bear the greatest burden. That's why we will introduce a mansion tax on properties worth over £2million and use the £2.5billion this will raise to employ 20,000 more NHS nurses and 8,000 more GPs.
